Work for Ards Art Centre 'Sintered' exhibition and working on my statement!
Little craggy forms, inspired by
the many islands of Strangford Lough, are displayed in a dispersed ‘scatter
brain’ formation to imitate the infarction process of vascular dementia. Some
forms are not ‘whole’ representing the gaped structure of the brain where
tissue has decayed. The vibrant colours demonstrate various activity levels in
the brain and also add a playfulness. The forms are segregated into two groups;
one with a pure white porcelain form and the other with a dark, hard and glossy
surface. This mimics the transition between activity and decay.
